Jose La Via – Cultural Center

The former San Luis Railway Station, built in 1907, is located at the confluence of Lafinur and Illía avenues. For many years this building witnessed the thousands of stories of those who arrived and those who left from its platforms.

The railway reached the city of San Luis in 1882, the first line being called 'Ferrocarril Andino' which, in 1887, was renamed 'Ferrocarril del Gran Oeste Argentino'. Initially, the first location of the railway was on the land now occupied by the National University of San Luis.

In 2015, the revaluation of the historic building began and the 'José La Via Cultural Center' began to function. The space has a movie theater, a training room, a radio, a conference room, a gastronomic space, among others.

The name of the Cultural Center is in honor of an Italian photographer who left a good part of the images in the history of San Luis printed.
