Centro Cultural Borges is located in the heart of Buenos Aires city, the Borges Cultural Center is an important cultural enterprise boosted by the Fundación para las Artes, a non-profit civil organization aimed at public well-being. It was inaugurated in October, 1995, covering an area of over 10,000 m2 inside Galerías Pacífico. This building has been tied to the arts since its foundation; by 1896 Galerias Pacífico had already sheltered the first seat of the National Fine Arts Museum and by the mid 40s its stunning allegorical murals had been painted. This building was also the site of the Asociación Estímulo de Bellas Artes, of the Ateneo, the Centro Islas Malvinas, as well as artist Ángel Della Valle´s atelier.

In a contemporary arena, the Centro Cultural was inaugurated by King Juan Carlos I of Spain, accompanied by all the cultural Establishment of the city. It opened its doors with a complete display of Jorge de la Vega´s work, with the Arte de Argentina 1920-1994 exhibit organized by the Modern Art Museum of Oxford University, an institution linked with Jorge Luis Borges. Remarkable works of art included the famous Corona de los Andes and an exhibition of Spanish paintings of the 19th and 20th century. The conceptual project was undertaken in accordance with the commitment of Galerías Pacífico to assign an important part of its total area to cultural activities, a commitment that boasts over 15 years of rich history.
